There are people who want a beautiful looking garden for when they decide in selling their house or if visitors come. They would display plants specifically grown for decorations and use their aesthetic features such as overall foliage texture, flowers, fruits, scent, stem, leaves and barks. Unusual features they have could add to observers an interest.

Taking care of them properly is essential to maintain their beauty but some are only at their best appearance at certain seasons. This is why Liriope and ornamental grass are popular alternative as they can last longer than other kinds. They could grow in different soil conditions and usually have no problems with insects and disease.

Most varieties tolerate drought which are severe and movement illusion is created by large ones with just the slightest breeze. Gardeners for home discovered that combining flowers and shrubs with them would provide interesting textures and colors. Their divers colors have a fair ranged and are used for successfully setting off large or small lawn areas.

When you choose what to plant, the following things must be considered starting with hardiness rating and matching it with your hardiness zone. These zones or geographically defined areas have particular plant categories which could grow depending on their temperature and climate. Using this would help landscapers, gardeners and owners to determine which can survive their area.

Deciding where their placement is depends if they will receive full sunlight because most of them have better performance in this. Other varieties though that loves sun could still perform well in partial shade but their growth is hindered. This information being known would help determine the location best for that variety in accordance with design plans.

Taking care of them in the beginning is similar with any other plants so make sure their start in your garden would be good. When transplanting, ensure their soil is not dry by filling in with water the planting hole before you set them. Some compost should be added then fill in the surrounding of your grass and water them again.

Most of them just need ordinary soil which is drained well and fertile moderately but others would not so have a few experiments done. A good drainage is a must even for those that prefer materials absorbing moisture well. Watering them regularly is required by some while too much water might kill them so get to know these things to avoid them getting dried or drowned.

Determine if your grass would serve some functions for you such as enhancing privacy, adding texture, garden bed edging and covering exposed soil. They could become your barriers against prying eyes so thicker and taller varieties are recommended. For lining your driveway tough, lower growing ones that will not block your view is the better choice.

Finally, decided whether you require a running or clumping grass with the latter being non invasive which would not spread out from its location. The former though would spread themselves out f you will not control them. Choose one between covering your ground or forming a neat mound depending upon your needs.
