Benefits Of Using Variable Rate Spreaders

By Paul Wright

As a farm or a crop nurturer of any kind, you do your best to ensure that the crops as much nourishment as they need. Apart from watering the plants, you to add fertilizer to them. In the past, people have manually applied fertilizer to their fields and lawns. With the change in technology, people now use variable rate spreaders.

Use of these spreader saves a lot on time. This is because it is a machine and can move faster and even do multiple things at the same time. Using human labor for such activities can sometimes be inconvenient because people tend to get tired and require a lot of little breaks in between working hours. With the machinery, a lot can be done in a day.

A farmer should be able to estimate the amount of fertilizer that will be enough for their piece of land. With that, they come up with a budget and buy a little over their estimate. There, however, is nothing worse than overbuying something only for it to be insufficient. The fertilizer will always be enough because the machine applies equal amounts to every crop.

They are also a way of saving money. This is because you will not be needing as much human resource as you did before. This does not mean the machine is self-operated, you will still have to pat the person operating it. It also does not mean that you no longer spend any cash because you will need to have the machinery maintained once in a while.

There are better chances of producing higher yields. This is mostly because the machinery put on every crop an amount that is just enough. This means that the chances of the crop going bad due to human interference are slim to none. When all the crops grow and yield as expected, the profits are bound to be off the charts.

The environment around the crops will be safe. When the spraying is manually done, some crops get too much fertilizer while some just do not get enough. This causes a lot of them to be destroyed and thus you might experience very low yields. With the over-sprayed crops, the soil around may be affected and planting crops becomes a lot harder.

Spreaders are multipurpose. Something that can have more than one use is usually more valued. When there are heavy snows, maybe even on tarmacked roads, you may use the spreader to sprinkle salt on the snow. This is a lot easier and more time saving than manual labor. There is also the idea of spraying pesticides on young crops.

There is nothing worse than babysitting adults. This is the case when people have to work under supervision. Otherwise, they may choose to do what they feel is right. With spreaders, however, they will always do as they are programmed to no struggles.
