Why Grass Should Not Be Cut When It Is Wet And Slippery

By Paul Young

A residence is the most comfortable place to bide time and sit back. It is constantly being decorated and upgraded as the years pass by long after its purchase. Working couples spend years and money in improving and making it more attractive. The upgrading also includes the exterior grounds with its nice natural green carpet. This greenery can be well maintained by lawn care Terrell TX.

Humans have always had the knack of bringing nature at its doorstep. It indeed is rare to find a home without greenery. Most yards in the suburban homes always have carpets of well manicured lawns. And it really is no surprise that the owners of these patches are very protective of this turf. That is why we always see a sign that says keep off the grass.

Maintaining greenery is a pleasurable experience if one wants it to be. A beautiful yard can add value to the property. One will have to spend time and energy to maintain its quality, its lushness and keep it free of invasive weeds, insects, and pests. Unmaintained spreads of these will be gobbled up by weeds and other unwanted plants.

A lawn mower is used in cutting blades of grass. This equipment can be mechanical, gas powered, or electrical. These are used mainly for trimming. Agriculturists have determined that only one third of the plant leaf must be cut or else regrowth of leaves will be slow. The exposed soil will become an open invitation for insects and unwanted plants to move in.

There is no definite schedule when it comes to mowing. It is a matter of personal preference and the type of lawn one has. Some people do it like clockwork, ever meticulous in keeping the turf at a certain level while there are others who trim it as the need arises. It also depends on the growth rate of this plant which also is dependent on soil fertility and the climate.

Mowers should also be properly well kept and maintained especially the blade component. These should be kept very sharp so it can cut cleanly. Dull blades will not cut through the leaves but would just tear it. The uneven cut will be prone to dry quickly which will render the spread ugly to look at with patches of white and brown mixed with the greens.

Never ever attempt to mow grass when it really is very wet. This may result in slippages especially among the elderly who seem to enjoy mowing lawns. We all know how dangerous it can be when things get so slippery. The mower blades will just glide through the wetness and will be unable to make an effective cut. There will be no need for mulching if the clippings are not plentiful.

Like all plants, grass needs to be fertilized too. Studies have shown that fertilized lawns have a lesser nutrient loss and water runoff compared to none fertilized ones. These plants should be fertilized every year to maintain its density. It is also good to water it right after it has been fertilized as this will enhance the effectiveness of fertilizers.

People nowadays are busybodies. Most do not have the time to do things at home other than relaxing and resting. Hell, sometimes they do not even bother to come home anymore as they are always busy doing something, somewhere out there. Investing a little money to have provider caring for the lawn is not such a bad idea, especially if you have plenty of it.
